Who is the Grüffelo anyway? Why might I know him? Why do children like him?

The Gruffalo is a popular children's book character created by British author Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler. The first story, "Der Grüffelo", was published in 1999 and has since become a classic of children's literature.

In the story, a little mouse goes for a walk in the forest and encounters various animals, including an owl, a snake and a fox, who would like to eat him. To protect herself from them, the clever mouse invents a scary creature called the Gruffalo, who she claims is her terrible friend. He describes the Grüffelo as a large, dangerous monster with sharp teeth, claws and a hideous appearance.

However, when the mouse actually meets the Gruffalo, it turns out that he is real. The Grüffelo is initially confused and frightened, but the mouse convinces him that they can defeat the terrible animals in the forest by passing the Grüffelo off as their own creation.

The Gruffalo is known for his unusual appearance and charming personality. The story is an exciting and humorous tale of courage, cunning and friendship and has become very popular with both children and adults. The illustrations by Axel Scheffler also help to make Grüffelo and the other characters in the forest appear lively and endearing.
